Truman's Grandson takes stage at McConnell

Truman.

This theatrical masterpiece, written by Samuel Gallu, will take you on a journey through the life and presidency of one of the most influential figures in American history. From his childhood in Missouri to his time as a judge and senator, and finally to his momentous two terms as President, you will witness the highs and lows of Truman's life in a faithful and often humorous portrayal. But the excitement doesn't end there. Clifton Truman Daniel, the oldest grandson of President Truman and First Lady Bess Truman, will take on the mantle of his grandfather's character. This marks the first time in history that a U.S. President will be portrayed onstage by a direct descendant. And with a resume boasting of roles in Wilmington's Opera House Theatre Company productions such as Ensign Pulver in Mr. Roberts, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, and Randle P. McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Mr. Daniel's performance is sure to be nothing short of phenomenal.

If that's not enough to get you excited, Mr. Daniel is also an author and a sought-after lecturer on various aspects of the Truman presidency and White House history. As honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library Institute and board secretary of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, he brings a wealth of knowledge and personal connection to this performance.
