Spartan Spotlight: Ken Dickson

Welcome back to Spartan Spotlight!

At McConnell 22d Force Support Squadron, we are proud to be a team of talented and diverse individuals who make up the heart of our organization. In an effort to showcase the great work that we do, we are excited to continue this blog series called "Meet the Spartan." Each month, we will be highlighting two to three team members and giving our followers a chance to get to know the Spartans behind the work we do. If you want to nominate someone at 22 FSS for "Meet the Spartan" message us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.!

Welcome to the next edition of our "Spartan Spotlight" series. Meet Ken Dickson, the Flight Chief of Child and Youth Programs at McConnell FSS. Ken joined the team back in December 2022, after serving at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. Born and raised in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, Ken loves to help his flight problem-solve and use his experience to tackle any challenges they might face.

When he's not at work, Ken is a self-proclaimed lover of professional wrestling and a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoys binge-watching TV shows, reading (preferably real books), and even collects comic books in his free time. Ken's passion for pro wrestling and the Philadelphia Eagles is only second to his love for his kids.

If Ken could travel anywhere in the world, he would choose England for its charming accents and rain, which he says suits him perfectly. When asked what advice he would give someone just starting out in his field, Ken emphasized the importance of patience and respect. According to him, experience is the best teacher, and there are no answers in books or AFI. He encourages everyone to treat the people they supervise with respect and take an interest in their lives.

For Ken, what makes McConnell FSS unique is the way it is spread out between the Dole Center and Bldg 732 as well as other facilities around base. In his role, he hopes to "leave the CYP better" than when he first arrived, although he certainly notes that there was nothing wrong with it in the first place. His goal is to continue improving the programs and ensuring that the children and youth at McConnell have the best experience possible.

Overall, Ken Dickson's passion for his job, love for his family, and interest in pop culture make him a dynamic and engaging member of the McConnell FSS team. His dedication to improving the CYP programs and fostering a positive environment for his colleagues and those he serves is a testament to his character and commitment to excellence.

Stay tuned for more exciting interviews in the coming months as we continue to showcase the hard-working team that makes up McConnell FSS. We are proud to have such dedicated individuals on our team, and we can't wait for you to get to know more of them. Until next time, remember: This is FSS. This is what we do. Our people are what make us unique!
