The Military Child Education Coalition is a nonprofit, world-wide organization focused on ensuring quality education opportunities for all military-connected children affected by mobility, family separation, and transition. The Space Camp scholarship was created in memory of military child Bernard Curtis Brown II, who was killed on Sept. 11, 2001 when the airliner on which he was a passenger was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon. Bernard was traveling to California to represent his school at a National Geographic event. His parents allowed the MCEC to honor their son's memory with this scholarship by providing military-connected children the opportunity to experience a life-changing journey and share their military family experiences.
