FAQs

Fitness Center

Q: Can the Fitness Center extend its hours to accommodate our mid-shift personnel?

A: The fitness center is authorized to be manned 112 hours a week.  Current headcounts don’t warrant extending the hours of operation.  Current hours are set to maximize customer demand for the 112 hours we are authorized.

Q: Will you repair the lockers in the men’s locker room in the Fitness Center?

A: The lockers will be replaced with project number PRQE 050016.  The project has been funded for design and has been on the books since FY 05.

Information, Tickets & Travel

Q: Can you do more promotion for upcoming Wichita concerts, travel, as well as other events and offers?

We have recently added an ITT News page under Information, Tickets & Travel on the website.  You can also find RefuelMcConnell and Leisure Travel on facebook for last minute offers.

Please keep in mind that our primary purpose is to market for the Force Support Squadron.  If it's not an event that ITT is offering tickets to, we will not be advertising it.  We cannot promote off base events if they aren't offering a military special.

MyAirForceLife.com

Q: Why aren’t there any events listed for McConnell on MyAirForceLife.com?

A: The My Air Force Life website was a part of the Year of the Air Force Family initiative, which ended on July 31.  At this time no bases are updating the site.  We apologize that you did not find the information you were looking for on there previously.  Our first priority is maintaining our own website.  All Force Support Squadron events are listed on this website in multiple locations.

Vet Clinic

Q: Why aren’t the Vet Clinic’s fees lower, especially compared to off-base clinics?

A: The Vet Clinic's prices have been standardized.  No matter what base vet clinic you go to the prices will be the same.  This changed in January of 2010 and all base vet clinics worldwide will offer the same products and services for the same prices.  This was changed through the Army Vet Command.

It is not our goal to compete with off- base services, but to provide high-quality, accessible veterinary care at the lowest possible cost.  For example, we give 3-year vaccines for the price of a 1-year vaccine.  At a clinic off base they charge a 3-year price for a 3-year vaccine.  The Clinic hopes customers will continue to support them so that their services will flourish and be here to stay.  If you have questions, there is a customer letter explaining the U.S. Army Veterinary Command changes and policy available at the Clinic.

Youth Programs

Q: Why doesn’t McConnell have a youth sports program?

A: The youth center fielded a t-ball team, a machine pitch baseball team and 3 different age groups in soccer from 2002 – 2006.  Beginning in 2007, there were not enough sign ups to field a single team in any sport and that continued through 2008.  Many of our military families reside in the local communities and their children want to play sports with their friends from school or the community where they live.

The youth center became a fee collection agency for the Derby Recreation Commission (DRC) and passed any fees collected over to the (DRC), which is where our teams competed previously. It was more cost effective to have parents of interested children sign up with the DRC on their website, www.derbyrec.com, which gave them the ability to sign up and pay on-line for sports or other children’s activities.  We would entertain the idea of forming McConnell teams for sports if there is enough interest among parents, children and volunteer coaches.
