Time to Prepare for the Air Force Arts & Crafts Gallery Showcase PDF Print E-mail

artscraftslogocolorcmyk convertedGet your submissions ready for the 2010-2011 Air Force Arts & Crafts Gallery Showcase.  Entries will be accepted September 20-24, 2010 at the Arts & Crafts Center (Bldg 424). 

Entries can include, but are not limited to Fine Art, Crafts, Pattern Art, Fabric Art, Fiber Art, Wood Working, Metal Art, Photography (Both Digital and 35mm)...if you created it, you should enter it!  Adult and youth categories are encouraged to participate. 

Everyone can submit up to 3 art/craft entries, and 3 photographs.

The Gallery Showcase is a vehicle to highlight the talents of the Air Force community.  The program is intended for all active duty military, retired military, and government civilian employees, as well as their dependents.  To view the 2009 gallery, visit www.airforcegallery.com, click on "Exhibit Gallery," then "AMC."  Scroll down for McConnell.

  All submissions from base level will be forwarded to MAJCOM.  MAJCOM will choose entries to forward to HQ AFSVA for Gallery Showcase display.  Individuals whose entries are selected for Gallery Showcase display will receive recognition from HQ AFSVA in the form of a commemorative medallion.

Tuition Assitance Deadline September 15 PDF Print E-mail

The cutoff date for FY10 requests for active-duty Tuition Assistance (TA) is close of business on 15 Sep 10.  Anyone enrolling in a college/vocational class beginning on or before 30 Sep 10 MUST get their online TA approved through the Education Center before COB 15 Sep 10 due to fiscal year closeout.  Active duty military whose classes begin on or after 1 Oct 10 can submit TA requests but approval will not occur until the last few days of Sep.  If you have questions or problems with the online process, please contact the Education Customer Service at

McConnell's AMC Icon- SSgt Brenda Johnson PDF Print E-mail

Icon_104Congratulations to SSgt Brenda Johnson (22 FSS), McConnell’s 2010 AMC Icon.  Ssgt Johnson wowed the packed Dole Center Ballroom with her rendition of “Home,” originally performed by Diana Ross.  She received a prize of $500. 

Sixteen talented contestants provided an evening of entertainment while vying to represent McConnell at the AMC Icon command finals at Scott AFB on October 21.  

The second place winner was A1C Nyrika Davis (22 LRS).  She received $300.  Third place went to SSgt Sidney Okagu (22ARW/CP), who received a $200 prize. 

While the judges deliberated, last year’s winner TSgt Doug Boren (384 ARS) entertained the crowd with a selection of Michael Bublé songs.

Thank you and congratulations to this year’s participants.  Good luck to SSgt Johnson as she represents McConnell at finals!  The finals will be broadcast live in Signatures Lounge on October 21.  Stay tuned for more information!
